I figured I would introduce my other main character from the ‘all too’ time consuming World of Warcraft. Brandelwyn, a level 35 dwarf warrior. He is actually the first character I created but I’ve been spending way too much time on my mage trying to get her horse so now it’s Brandelwyns turn to get some more attention.

Brandelwyn

I picked the name from one of the characters of my favorite series of fantasy novels: The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. Brandelwyn is not a main character, or even a minor character, but just one of the names I could remember that wasn’t taken at that time. Brandelwyn Al’Vere is the father of Egwene, one of the main supporting characters.

I’ve been playing Brandelwyn as a dual axe wielding warrior over my last 10 levels or so but I’ve recently switched to a nice club and shield. Mostly because I saw a great deal on a ‘blue’ club while I was looking to upgrade my weapons. I also thought it would be interesting to try playing more as a tank. A ‘blue’ item in the game has better stats for doing damage and/or giving your character extra buffs, they also end up costing more.

Brandelyns professions are mining/herbalism so I collect things to sell to other players, or to give to my mage who is an alchemist. Throughout the entire world there are various types of mines such as copper, tin, gold, and many others. When I find one I can mine that material as well as sometimes getting gems or stones that I can also sell.

As well as 2 main professions you can also have any number of the secondary professions: cooking, fishing or first aid. Just as with your main professions you can also increase your skill level in these secondary professions which allows you to create or get better items. Brandelwyn recently became an artesian fisher, the highest level possible. Here are some pictures of him completing that quest to become artesian.

This is my fishing trainer.
Mr. Nat Pagle

It seems Nat Pagle is a big drinker.
“Glug, glug, glug….”

Completing the quest.

A proud artisian fisher.

My other world – World of Warcraft.

Well, I’ve been a little too addicted to WOW (World of Warcraft) lately. It’s slowly eating away at my life but for some reason I don’t seem to mind much. There have been way too many weekend nights spent from 10pm till 5am just working on completing some quests, organizing my inventory, and selling items at the auction house.

I have been rewarded for my efforts today though. My mage Trillion” has reached level 40 finally and I got my first horse. It cost about 18 gold for training and another 72 gold for my lovely chestnut mare but I think it’s so worth the cost. I took some snapshots to document the occasion.

Getting trained – 18 gold!!!

Now to buy my ride.

Time to mount up.

How do you steer this thing?

Whoa nelly, calm down boy!!!

Now this sure beats walking.

I was happy to see that you don’t have to get off the horse to do some things such as getting quests but it would be great if I could pick flowers while mounted. If you’re not familiar with WOW, each player can have 2 major professions and mine are Herbalism (thus the reference about picking flowers) and Alchemy. Alchemists take the flowers, roots, and herbs from herbalists and create special potions with them. These potions can give you back health, increase your armor, make you run faster, or any number of other things.

I also finally joined a guild, they are called Spirit Warriors. They are about 130 members strong and seem like a nice bunch of guys, there may be some women in the group but not any that I specifically know about.

I now just need to work on getting my level 34 Dwarf Warrior (Brandelwyn) up to level 40 so I can get his mount as well. As he is a dwarf he will be getting a ‘ram’ and not a horse. I”ll try to make sure to get some pics of that as well and post them here as well.
